VIVIENNE BLAKE

Viv's Grauduation 2010

I am sometimes known as the silly old bat, potty about poetry, passionate for patchwork, family, friends, music and a quiet life.  The pains of age prevent much physicality: gone are the days of riding and roaming, tennis and squash.  Hours at the computer have largely compensated.

Twenty-years ago we retired to rural Normandy, often a source of inspiration, as is my varied career from BBC production secretary in the 1950’s  via all kinds of odd jobs, to teaching business studies in the Seychelles Polytechnic.

Seven years of online studies with the Open University culminated in 2010 in the pomp and ceremony of a degree ceremony at the tender age of 72.  Since then, poetry has rather taken over my life – never a day goes by without at least one poem popping up.

Some of my stories and poems have been published in First Edition, the e-zine Long Story Short, Equinox and The French Literary Review (in French) and the occasional anthology.  But the majority of my work appears only on my blog at Bistrot Vivienne http://vivinfrance.wordpress.com and my ranting blog:  http://vivnada.wordpress.com Perhaps I should put my poetry about more.
