POETIC BLOOMINGS

POETIC BLOOMINGS is a Phoenix Rising Poetry Guild site established in May 2011 to nurture and inspire the creative spirit.

Photo Phocus

The PHOTO PHOCUS is the “album” for all your inspired art work. Whether you are just starting to delve into photography, or have been expressing yourself pictorially for years, we would love to view your shots.

Understand, we are looking for the artistic quality of your photographs. Nature photos or human interest pieces are sought. Family pics of the kids birthday, must have a sense of art to them to be included. All must be approved before posting.  Remember, we are a forum open to artists, poets and writers of all ages. Please use discretion when considering pieces to include. Whole albums on a specific subject are welcome here as well. Photos submitted to the PHOTO PHOCUS album are to be e-mailed to poeticbloomings@yahoo.com. Include the title of your photograph (if it has one) or album, the location they were shot, the photographer’s name as you wish it to appear. As with the artwork, if you have an interest in offering the piece for sale, please state so in the e-mail. That information will be withheld, but any interest in your work will be forwarded to the photographer and you can discuss details.

I’ve attached these two pics for submission to Photo Phocus.  I have entitled them “Burn In” and “Burn In 2”.  They were taken on Fort Eustis one foggy morning by me, Rob Halpin.  I’m glad to share these with you!

for me, what drew it all together was the kid sitting on the chain.

  2. The dark colors and choppy water set a nice mood. I can imagine they’ve been fishing all day and won’t give up till dark comes. Nice work,William

Great picture, it would be fun to see a “what it is today” from the same place you stood all those years ago.

I haven’t been there lately but I don’t think it’s changed, according to images I see when searching on Google using the terms, “Charlotte Pier” and “Rochester.”

  4. I like that the lighthouse draws your eye to the horizon. Great shot, William.

It has been so long, I’ve forgotten what lens I used, but it likely was a moderate wide-angle so I could have a rapidly receding horizon. The lighthouse drew my eye then, too. Sorry. Couldn’t resist that.

  5. I love the lighting and everything about this photo. Nice work, William!

  6. I love the tone…the characters silhouetted, still telling so much. I really like what the water in the foreground is doing…the reflective faces and the contrasting parts….there really is a lot going on in this image. Amazing photographic eye, William. 🙂

  7. I love the blue tones here–there is a kind of quietness implied for me

  8. You have a great eye for light, tone, composition…heck, all that makes images pop and cause reflection. I can’t find a single one that did not engage me, even as good prompts for memories and stories. Each has and evokes a mood. Love them, Bill, you talented rascal.

Wow! Michelle, your works are the bee’s knees, and some of your titles are poems in their own write. Thanks so much for sharing these.

  12. Marjory — What fun watching your beach bum melt away.

  13. Michelle, your photos are amazing!

  14. William, I love your steel cathedral picture! Marjory your beach bum photos and poem progression made me laugh! Thanks for sharing your many talents!

  15. I love the additions to your collection, William!! The steel cathedral is SO intriguing…feels almost surreal.

Marjory…love the humor in your’s and the three part presentation.

Michelle!! Oh, wow…really beautiful work…mesmerizing really. Sigh.

I love the moods conjured by the “Burn In” series; the whole effect, for me, is of the half-awake, half-dream state of early morning. Thanks for sharing them.

  17. Thanks for the good writeup. It in truth used to be a amusement account it.
Glance complicated to more delivered agreeable from you!
By the way, how can we communicate?
