POETIC BLOOMINGS READING ROOM #60 – “AFTER ENDLESS DAYS”

Per Walt: As poets, we will invariably steer our collective muse to the subject of love. When Robert Lee Brewer would conduct his Poem-A-Day challenges, you are guaranteed to get a two for Tuesday prompt highlighting love/anti-love. We can agree to some extent that of all emotions, love is the most illogical.

Who better to help us understand love than the most logical person we know. Mr. Spock from Star Trek… well, no. But his alter ego, Leonard Nimoy, can shed some light on the subject. Among his other many talents, (actor, director, singer) Mr. Nimoy was a talented poet with several books to his credit. From his book, “A Lifetime of Love”, I chose to offer the poem, “After Endless Days”.

AFTER ENDLESS DAYS

by Leonard Nimoy

After endless days
of highest flight

Sunny days
of dizzy heights

I found myself
Suddenly
on the ground
Weighted down

Lost
And searching
For the light

And then
I saw you shine
Clear and sweet

And I took
Your outstretched hand

And found my way
To joyous love
And dream-filled days

You led me home
