BRILLIANT BLOOMS PROMPT #165 AND GREETING CARD VERSE
Perspective tells a slightly different story, and this exercise shows it clearly. We look at a child from a lifetime of our experience; they see that moment and revel in it. This brief piece by Henrietta Choplin says much to earn this Bloom.
A Soft Place to Fall by Henrietta Choplin
Our Gramma’s hands won’t let us fall
Our little swings will not see-saw,
Our smooth transition graceful, tall.
Close your eyes, swing to the sky
You’re safe, secure surrounded by
My dreamy fairies’ watchful eyes.

One of the most sold greeting cards are the heart shaped tableaus at Valentine’s Day. Here, are two poems that approach that day from two completely separate emotions. Sal Butacci and Earl Parsons both chose to fete this celebration, and both earn a Bloom!
Valentine’s Day is Here by Salvatore Butacci
Valentine’s Day is here at last!
Let’s give our love a start.
I’m making me a monster
And I need to have your heart.
It’s got a brain I stole last week
From someone in the dark,
But right now in this greeting
I’m asking for your heart.
I’ll keep it warm and beating
Inside my monster’s chest.
Let’s wish it all the best.

My Valentine by Earl J Parsons
My valentine, my love, my life
My soul mate, my heartbeat, my wife.
My desire, my reason to live.
My dear, it’s my all that I give.
I thank God that He led me to you.
I thank God for the words, “I do.”
I thank God for the gift of romance.
I thank you for giving me a chance.
You complete me, you fill my soul.
You please me, and make me whole.
You have me, forever I will be true
You love me, forever I will love you.
We’ve got something that’s rarer than gold.
We’ve got true love, to have and to hold.
We’ve got happiness, and that’s just the start.
We’ve got each other, two loves, one heart.
Especially for you on Valentine’s Day.
