POETIC BLOOMINGS is a Phoenix Rising Poetry Guild site established in May 2011 to nurture and inspire the creative spirit.

What do the names RJ Clarken, Walt Wojtanik, Hannah Gosselin, Laurie Kolp, De Jackson, Rob Halpin, Aimee Halpin and the late Dyson McIllwain have in common?

They all probably first crossed paths at Poetic Asides with Robert Lee Brewer. They have been fervent contributors here at POETIC BLOOMINGS. But, what many may not know, they have all served as administrators and prompters at the flash fiction site, FLASHY FICTION.

Well, in keeping with this air of change in our beloved garden, I would like to announce that FLASHY FICTION will be joining up under our new banner to be a part of FLASHY FICTION FRIDAY. Rob Halpin and his wife Aimee along with myself, have been keeping the site (which RJ Clarken and her cohorts started back in the early days of Rock!… well, not really that long ago!) on life support and I felt this would be a perfect fit for our flash fiction aficionados here at our new and improved site. Flash fiction may not be everyone’s bag of beans, but for those who do flash, it will be a haven which will be more accessible.

The three of us will alternate Fridays with a new prompt, with the last Friday being instructional, a discussion or an exercise. You may post your efforts in the comment section and/or provide a link to your story on your blog so we can visit your other fine works.

Also in this forum we will develop characters, backgrounds and other aspects for those who venture into the NANOWRIMO every November. It may be a helpful tool in this regard.

I thank Rob Halpin for his outstanding work, developing the new look at FLASHY FICTION and for getting the “Newer” design of the CREATIVE BLOOMINGS’ FLASHY FICTION FRIDAY up and running so quickly. Those who regularly visit the site will have already seen a “preview” .

At FLASHY FICTION FRIDAY we have a tagline: “Everyone has a little story to tell…” Join us on Fridays and try your hand at telling yours.

  1. Thanks, Walt, for all you have done and continue to do…and for allowing me to be involved with these wonderful sites. It’s truly great being a part of communities full of such love and creativity. Thanks also to those who have helped with the sites before me, to those who contributed their time to prompting and reading and spreading word of what was going on, and especially, to those who visit these sites and share their poems and stories with us. I hope to see Creative Bloomings and its revamped Flashy Fiction Friday grow and thrive.

I think that it is wonderful to have so many different “rows” in the garden where so many different types of creativity can be shared and enjoyed. It provided a gateway to a wonderful world of discovery and creativity. Thank You, Walt and each of the folk who helped to develop the growing Garden place. You-all have expended a LOT of thought and energy to enhance our lives and expand our creative energies. Again, Thank You.

  4. So the Flash prompt will be posted here from now on?

    • Marilyn, the link you’ve always used will get you to the page. It will be linked through the main page and will take you to the same spot. Either direction to the same location. This will be reflected as I get the main page organized. It will be one prompt a week, to the pressure and burden should lessen. W.

      • I often forget to check on Flashy because it’s on Blogger, and it doesn’t send me an email notification when a new post goes live. If a link-back post or something-like-that was posted here, then an email would be generated to anyone following Creative Bloomings.

        • It will be posted here, Marilyn. Also, the badge to the right for Flashy Fiction Friday will take you to the page. It made sense to leave the post on blogspot for now and just link to it. But a notification will be posted with the title “It’s Flashy Fiction Friday – (Date)” and that should generate the e-mail. W.

All of this is so exciting!!!

  6. I’m so glad to see that more will come of the changes made here. I love doing the flash fiction and so many times don’t take the opportunity to drop in and see what’s happening on Flashy Fiction. I guess there won’t be too many ways to procrastinate now, will there?

Good for you, Walt. Now will the link name for the old PB change to reflect the name change of the site? I’ve been asked this already.
